Environmental Initiatives at Production Facilities

The production facilities of Toyo Denki practice chemical management and implement initiatives to address global warming and reduce waste, guided by the Environmental Philosophy and Action Guidelines.

Addressing Global Warming

(1)Efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (CO2) emissions

In order to reduce CO2 emissions, we have upgraded our factory equipment to highly efficient equipment.
We strive to reduce power consumption through demand control and peak cut.

(2)Utilization of renewable energy

In July 2012, we installed a 500 kW photovoltaic system.
The amount of power generation is about 640,000 kWh a year, which is all consumed by ourselves.
The amount of CO2 emissions reduced by this amount is equivalent to 300 to 330 tons / year.

Reducing Waste

The Yokohama Works actively recycles waste produced through business activities. On the production floor, waste is thoroughly sorted for recycling and recycling methods are continuously studied for improvement, to both reduce and recycle industrial waste.
Equipment development and design is carried out with the aim of improving efficiency and reducing energy and resource consumption.

Chemical Substance Management

Toyo Denki manages the emissions and transfer of chemical substances in accordance with Japan’s Law concerning Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR). The PRTR data is filed with local governments and tracked by the national government. Controlled substances include paints, varnishes, and solvents. The company is reducing its use of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) contained in these substances.
